Myofascial Release (MFR)

Fascia is connective tissue that runs around and through every structure in the body. It surrounds and protects all other tissues including muscles, tendons, ligaments and abdominal organs. It is a continuous web and restriction in one part can affect the rest of the body. With myofascial release techniques using long low load stretches of the tissues form and function can be restored helping to ease pain and remove restriction. This technique can be given as a stand alone treatment or as part of your massage session.

Myofascial release techniques are extremely effective where there is scar tissue following injury or surgery. Also useful to correct postural and compensatory muscle use and asymmetries.

These techniques were developed by John Barnes

As an experienced Sports & Remedial massage therapist Oonagh has found MFR techniques to be highly effective in treating a wide range of conditions. She therefore chooses these techniques as a primary therapeutic tool to aid recovery from injury, pre event, post event, or as an adjunct to your training programme as well as for health maintenance.

Oonagh is based near Huntingdon and offers MFR in the surrounding areas.
